Leon Gavalas holds MBA International in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the Athens University of Economics and Business (2014), as MSD scholar fellow and a BSc in Management Science and Technology, with major in e-business and Information Systems from the same University (2012). Since 2011 he has been involved in research activities in the areas of environmental footprint monitoring, consumer behaviour and perceptions analysis, gamification, focusing on shopper marketing with new technologies as a PhD Candidate since 2016 at Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He has worked in National, European and industry funded projects mainly in the FMCG industry with companies like Ahold-Delhaize, Barilla, L’Oreal, Nestlé, Johnson&Johnson, Metro, Carrefour. He has also worked in the industry Research & Development of Integrated systems for monitoring and processing fluid, solid and gas material, as a Business Development Manager. In 2011, he became a founding member of the first entrepreneurship student association in Greece, Thinkbiz, where he served as a President of the Board of Directors and in 2014 he joined the team that created the Athens Center of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the incubation center of AUEB, where he supported in the design and implementation of open innovation programs for large corporations like National Bank of Greece and Athens International Airport (Fraport). Since 2014, he has joined startup companies as a shareholder in the industries of Advertising, Information Systems and Fashion. In 2016, by exploiting the technical knowledge and the consulting experience that he has gained through his involvement in research and industry projects and combining them with his deep understanding on the dynamics and mechanisms of shoppers and online communities, he was one of the founding members of Bespot, which is an startup company in the fields of proximity & shopper marketing and analytics.
